Andrea graduated from the University of Pisa, Italy, in 2014. His international experience began just before graduating at the University of Helsinki, where he spent 3 months as Erasmus student. After obtaining his professional qualification, he worked as vet assistant at the Clinique Equine de l’Etrier (Chantilly, France), gaining experience in the Thoroughbred race work.

After spending a few months as a visitor at several other institutions, such as the University of Glasgow, Equine Clinic De Morette and University of Liege (Belgium), he started an 18 months rotating internship at Pool House Equine Clinic (Staffordshire, UK).

At the end of this period, he obtained the position of hospital-based vet at Pool House Equine Clinic, dealing mainly with surgeries, lameness and emergencies – critical care. Andrea is qualified to operate the Hallmarq MRI system, and is studying towards the RCVS Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice in equine surgery at the University of Liverpool. In April 2018, he started a shared residency and Master’s programme in equine surgery between the University of Glasgow and Pool House Equine Clinic.

We are delighted that Andrea (Equine Surgery Team) has been awarded a Masters Degree by the University of Glasgow for his thesis of Equine tendon repair.

Andrea enjoys all the aspects of equine surgery and has particular interest in wound management, soft tissue and orthopedy surgeries. In fact, he is currently undertaking a research project on a novel surgical technique for equine tendon repair and treatment of collateral ligament desmopathy of the distal interphalangeal joint.

In his spare time Andrea enjoys outdoor sports such as running and skiing.
